Cleto Reyes Boxing Gloves

Cleto Reyes gloves have been called "the puncher's glove" since 1945, and the nickname describes the build rather than the marketing. The padding is thinner and denser than a standard training glove and the knuckle area is contoured rather than flat. Less material between fist and target means more force transmits through, and more feedback comes back.

Lace-up or hook-and-loop

This collection carries both. Lace-up gives the tightest wrist lock available and is what most fighters use for sparring and competition, but you need someone to tie them. Hook-and-loop lets you gear up alone in seconds, which matters if you train on your own schedule. Neither is better — they suit different training setups.

The extra-long cuff

The defining external feature. The cuff extends further up the forearm than most gloves, giving the closure more surface to anchor against and adding wrist stability under heavy shots.

Sizing

Available across 8oz to 18oz depending on the model. As a rough guide: 8–10oz for competition, 12–14oz for pads and bag work, 16oz and above for sparring — most gyms require 16oz minimum for partner work. Wrap your hands before judging fit, and size up if you're between weights.

Care

Wipe down after every session and air dry away from direct heat, since leather that dries too quickly cracks at the flex points. Loosen laces fully before removing lace-up gloves to protect the cuff stitching.
