The case for 14oz
Most fighters own 12oz and 16oz and skip the weight in between. That's a mistake if you do high-volume pad work — 12oz leaves your hands exposed over an hour of mitts, and 16oz slows the sharp combination work pads are meant to build. 14oz is the working compromise, and coaches who hold pads daily tend to insist on it.

Care
Air-dry your gloves after every session with the cuffs open. Wipe the leather with a damp cloth, use glove deodorisers, and always wear hand wraps to keep the lining fresh. Never dry on a heater.

Lace-up or Velcro – which is better?
