12–14oz covers pads and bag work. 16oz is the sparring standard most gyms require. 8–10oz suits competition rather than daily training.
Why black and gold works
The black shell takes the daily contact and hides it — scuffs and bag residue barely show. The gold panelling sits at the cuff, which takes far less direct impact, so it stays sharp long after an all-metallic glove would start to dull.
Care
Wipe down after every session and air dry with the cuff open. Use a dry cloth only on the gold panelling; damp cleaning is fine on the black leather but will dull a metallic finish over time.
Choosing a closure
Lace-up locks the wrist down tightest, which is why it's still the closure most sparring partners insist on. Velcro trades a little of that lock-down for speed getting the gloves on and off solo.

Care
Air-dry your gloves after every session with the cuffs open. Wipe the leather with a damp cloth, use glove deodorisers, and always wear hand wraps to keep the lining fresh. Never dry on a heater.
