Groin guard sizing and fit guide

Groin Guard Sizing & Fit Guide for Boxing

A groin guard is the one piece of sparring gear nobody wants to test the hard way. A well-fitted guard protects the groin, kidneys and lower abdomen from low blows — and lets you move freely for every round.

Step 1: Measure your waist

Measure around your waist at the height you wear your shorts. Use that number with the size chart below or on the product page. Boxing groin guards are sized by waist, not by trouser size, so always measure rather than guess.

Size Waist (cm) Waist (in)
S 66–76 26–30
M 76–86 30–34
L 86–96 34–38
XL 96–106 38–42

Step 2: Check the fit

  • The waistband should sit at your natural waist, above the hip bones.
  • The front cup should cover fully without pressing uncomfortably.
  • When you squat and pivot, the guard should stay in place without riding up.
  • Adjustable laces or velcro at the back should close securely.

If you're between sizes, go up a size and tighten the adjustable back for a secure fit.

Step 3: Wear it correctly

Wear compression shorts or a jockstrap underneath for comfort, put the guard on before your boxing shorts and tighten the back so it feels secure. Your shorts can go over the top of the waistband for a clean look.

Look after it

Air the guard after every session, wipe the inside with a damp cloth and let it dry naturally. Never store it wet in a closed bag.
